The Cyber Code
The Cyber CodeCyber Bullying was highlighted as the most important issue affecting young people in County Waterford in 2013. Waterford Comhairle was tasked with combatting this. Over a nine-month period the Comhairle brought the Cyber Code and Cyber Day from an idea to a reality.
The Cyber Code consists of three principles:
The Cyber Code was put together with input, advice, resources and support from SpunOut.ie, Webwise.ie, Barnardos, Walk In My Shoes, Secondary School SPHE Teachers and Young People. The Cyber Code has been showcased in Dáil Éireann and on National, Regional and Local Radio and Television. Other Comhairle na nÓgs across Ireland have shown interest in replicating this campaign in their area. TDs, MEPs, Cllrs, Doctors, Therapists, Schools, Mental Health Organisations and Waterford City & County Council have endorsed the Cyber Code.
